Ficomirrors S.A. is one of the companies that forms the Ficosa group of the automotive sector within the multinational Panasonic, and is a top-level global supplier dedicated to the research, development, manufacture and marketing of automotive vision systems.

Our headquarters are located in Barcelona (Spain) and we have production centres, engineering centres and sales offices in 18 countries in Europe, North America, South America, Asia and Africa.

Ficomirrors, S.A. and its vision systems (interior/exterior rear view mirrors) are Ficosa’s main business, and it is recognized by the main original equipment manufacturers (OEM), being the third manufacturer of rear-view mirrors in the world.

Our mirrors incorporate the latest technologies and are designed according to the style requirements of the vehicle, while complying with all the standards and quality regulations necessary to fulfill their function.

The Audi e-Tron’s first camera mirror has been designed and produced by us.

Role in the Project

FICOMIRRORS has the purpose to implement the technology of S1 sensor in a vehicle with the goal of the development of a system for in-cabin driver monitoring. S1 camera will target the driver position in order to detect movements giving information about driver status.

Safe driving is a priority in the automotive sector, developing new technologies that allow a better visualization of the environment so that the driver can make better decisions during driving.

Knowing, monitoring and predicting the features of the driver is also a very important tool for the detection of abnormal behaviour of the driver, with the aim of alerting the driver and thus have safe driving avoiding possible accidents.

Facial recognition in vehicles is another tool that allows profiles to be adapted for personalized driving, as well as providing a safety system for authorized drivers.

Arnau Coll is a Ficosa System architect, program Manager and Technology Readiness Level Consultant for advanced prototypes and projects from 2016. He received his Industrial Electronic Engineer degree from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) in 2003. In 2010 he obtained a Master in PhD in laser doped solar cells and nanotechnology (nanoparticles and photonics).

Ana Mancebo Prieto, product Engineer in Ficomirrors since 2018 as Patent Specialist and Homologation Advanced Engineer. She is responsible of the development of new patents in the field of indirect vision, focused in a new generation of intelligent interior mirrors with the dual function of mirror and display image from cameras, supporting Engineering teams in new product ideas development. Responsible of Homologation Department for indirect vision with the management of the documentation and validation of rearview mirror to obtain Officially Certifications. She obtained her Physical Sciences Degree in 2013 in the University of Granada (Spain) and she obtained in 2018 her Master Degree in Photonic by the Polytechnic University of Catalonia.
